This used to be the place to go for plenty of good food - not anymore! The reporter visited the restaurant on a Sunday evening in July 2006. The upstairs was busy, but it was busy with people waiting for food! The reporter ordered drinks and food at just after 8pm. The drinks arrived 10 minutes later and the starters 20 minutes after that. Not bad I hear you say, but the reporter then had to wait a further 45 minutes (asking the staff twice where the food was) for a couple of burgers that, when they turned up were dry, taste-less and were accompanied by 22 french fries. The reporters wife had about 5 mouthfuls of food and left the rest. The reporter was given 2 more beers as a way to say sorry - but since he was driving they were of little use!

The family on the next table overheard our complaints and explained to us that they had sat down to eat at 7:30pm and were still waiting for their 1st drinks at 8:15pm. When their main meals arrived (with up to 5 minutes between each main course) it was just after 9:00pm. One of the ladies had corn on the cob as a side order but this was still frozen!

On departing the restaurant there were 2 couples waiting to be seated - both were complaining about the length of time they had sat waiting.

Before leaving the reporter asked who owned the restaurant and the very intelligent girl said, "well my boss rents the building and he's the chef"

As you can imagine the reporter will not be going back to this restaurant unless a full apology is received (The management may contact the reporter through this web site.)

Joypur Indian Restaurant
25 Cliff Street
Bridlington
01262 401054

A wonderful meal awaits anyone who visits this fairly new edition to Bridlington's excellent range of restaurants. Situated opposite the rear entrance to Marks & Spencer the restaurant is spread over 2 floors with the tables downstairs offering that little bit of intimacy that a lot of diners like.

I visited this restaurant at 7:00 on a Friday night in August, a little hesitant at what I might find as all the other Indian Restaurants in Bridlington have proved a big disappointment. Not this one though, the service was of the highest order with the staff being very attentive without being over-bearing. The food tasted wonderful with the meat falling off the bone at the slightest touch.

I had Tandoori Chicken to start followed by Chicken Pathia with my wife having Chicken Pakoras followed by Chicken Bhuna. To accompany this we had Garlic Chilli Rice and a Garlic Naan.

We couldn't face a dessert due to being so full from the amount of food we ate!

The drinks menu is very extensive with an excellent range of alchol free beers. Please note that the restaurant does not have a alchol licence but you are very welcome to take your own wine - they'll even cork it for you at no cost!

Brilliant is what the reporter says everytime he visits this small and intimate restaurant in the heart of Bridlingtons Old Town.

The food is all home made and there's always plenty of it. The staff are very courteous and treat all of their guests like family.

There is a choice of menus which are exceedingly good value for money. You will definately have to book to enjoy this restaurant.

The last time the reporter called, with his wife, they both had the early evening 2 course menu which included a half carafe of wine for only £17.95 (for both).

You will not be disappointed!

Yips Chinese Restaurant

The staff and food were both excellent. The ambiance was good and the noise level was very subdued.

I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that likes Chinese cuisine however I would insist that they visit during the week or later at night as early doors the restaurant can be noisy and a little cramped..
