Burton Agnes Hall

Burton Agnes Hall

Burton Agnes Hall dates back to 1173 when Roger de Stuteville built a Norman Manor house there. However a new Hall was built in the early 1600's (Elizabeth I reign) when Sir Henry Griffith and his wife favoured the site at Burton Agnes rather the the house they were having built in the Midlands.

Old Manor House

Whilst the house has never been sold, it as passed from family to family (when the male line ended) and it is still a family home occupied by descendants of the Boynton family, having passed through the female line via Mary Constance Boynton to Simon Cunliffe-Lister.
